Ukrainian Design POP-Up | GROPIUS CHAIR PROJECT
April 12th – 21st

Design by Kateryna Sokolova |Color concept by Masha Reva

GROPIUS is a padded chair designed by Kateryna Sokolova within the NOOM's first furniture collection dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus School in Germany.

Ukrainian artist Masha Reva formed the colour set of NOOM's Gropius chairs as part of the Ukrainian creators’ fair ‘i am u are’ - held in NYC March 24th-26th 2023. The main idea was to support the fair's concept to show that modern Ukraine is all about diversity.

To boost this concept, Ukrainian design company NOOM used bright wool fabric designed by Danish graphic artist Finn Sködt for Kvadrat Textiles.

Why in the SoHo Design District?

The collaboration with SoHo Design District originated when NOOM inquired about space to display their installation after the 'I am u are' fair, so products, once sold, wouldn’t need to be shipped back to Ukraine.

SDD stands for creating learning opportunities about design and sharing design experiences to build a stronger community.

With the support of Gandia Blasco, Original BTC, and, Salvatori, who will be displaying the products,  we are echoing the message further.

SALVATORI - REPORT from an epic opening night

On the evening of Thursday, February 23rd, Salvatori celebrated the grand opening of its first North American flagship showroom and boutique at 102 Wooster Street, in the epicenter of New York City’s luxury design & fashion district. It was a night to remember for CEO Gabriele Salvatori and the Salvatori family; the event brought together more than 800 guests including press, designers, and industry tastemakers – among them was iconic painter and filmmaker Julian Schnabel – to enjoy great company, food, drinks, and live music.

Designed by international design studio Yabu Pushelberg, Salvatori sought to create a bespoke design destination that would introduce North America to its ‘Total Look’ design capabilities encompassing innovative textural surfaces, sculptural bathroom products, and contemporary home décor pieces, all crafted from beautiful Italian natural stone.
