ISSUE #4/23 THE SOHO DESIGN DISTRICT VOICE

It's been an intense Spring-Summer so far in the SoHo Design District.

New showroom openings, new SDD members, new line launches, Design Award winners, partnerships with ACE NY and Architects Newspaper, and more; there has been plenty to keep the design community active in the historical neighborhood of SoHo.

And we are proud to share that in May, the SDD event page on the NYCxDesign online calendar has been the most visited. Yes, that's right. So, thank you all for joining us in our neighborhood. It is busy, bustling, growing, and this wouldn't be without your presence.

If you missed any SDD happening, please find below an update on most recent ones. There is more planned for the Fall, so keep following us here.

Enjoy the rest of the summer and see you in SoHo!

Local News

On July 19th, SDD hosted a new edition of the summer Design Hunt, this time in partnership with Architect's Newspaper.
It's been a fun, well attended evening dedicated to industry professionals. Attendees visited the 11 participating showrooms, they mingled, discovered, and made new connections.

Among those who made it to all 11 showrooms, 11 lucky people were raffled and won the design prizes donated by participating brands.

Don't miss it next year!

Newly opened showroom

CASTRADS - 70 Thompson st
Steam radiators with temperature control in beautiful Farrow & Ball colors.
This NYC apartment in a 1920 Park Slope Brownstone was overheated by oversized and awkwardly positioned original radiators.
The owners came to Castrads for a solution, saying “We chose Castrads because of its reputation and design options. We also liked the thermostat control.”

Following an at-home consultation, they opted to install Castrads Mercury column radiators with Niva One-Pipe Steam Thermostatic valves. With lower output radiators and thermostatic controls the steam system now maintains a far more comfortable, ambient heat, which can be easily adjusted when necessary.
“As a cherry on top, Castrads was able to paint our units in our chosen Farrow & Ball colors.” Attuned to the history of the property, our customers had a clear concept for their color scheme which they selected from British supplier Farrow & Ball.
Our cast iron radiators are custom made and finished. In addition to our Signature Collection and Bare Metal finishes, you can choose any color from the ranges at Farrow & Ball, Benjamin Moore or Little Greene.

CIELO - 109 Greene st, ste 1D
Les Petites collection
The new Les Petites collection by Italian brand Ceramica Cielo, designed by Andrea Parisio and Giuseppe Pezzano, is dedicated to small bathrooms with big personality. Suspended ceramic elements supported by metal structures, in an interplay of horizontal planes and vertical uprights, make Les Petites a design that fits perfectly into any environment. A sophisticated and versatile collection where the “greatness” of the object lies entirely in its intrinsic aesthetic and functional value.
