SDD is comprised of a small but dynamic team. Dahlia Latif, who is the president of SDD, held the first meeting in 2014 for design showrooms to meet each other and discuss common concerns. She remains to lead SDD with the support of the partners, board members, and member showrooms and strives for the non-profit to grow each year to reach a wider and diverse design audience. Latif has 17  years in the industry and currently acts as VP of Retail Sales in North America for Emeco.

Our project manager and designer, Lisa Lozano Czulinski comes from a fine art and design background and has worked with many institutions and individuals to create public experiences within the project and installation event milieu. She plays an integral role in our think tank, managing SDD’s projects, running the day to day communications and being a spokesperson for SDD’s mission.

Our newest member Austin Whittle has a background in sales and social media and has helped to strengthen our online presence with exponential growth. He is working towards a larger vision for SDD as a brand in 2018 and currently working in the Lee Broom showroom.

Nassy Diaby joined our team two years ago and has played the role of a project manager and client liaison to bridge communication with our members and team. She is a French bilingual creative professional with 7 years of marketing experience in the luxury industry.

Our Yearly Events

Our Past Events

The SoHo Design District Walking Tour

In an effort to increase visibility, to bridge the gap between us and the new generation of design students, designers and architects, and to give back to the community, the SoHo Design District team has organized a walking tour of our neighborhood highlighting our rich history in and outside of our showrooms. Our guide focuses on presenting key products and stories from our showrooms, as well as the history and evolution, of the buildings in the SoHo neighborhood.

Phaidon + Artspace Event

Visitors took a walk through selected showrooms from our SoHo Design District members which featured some of Phaidon's most innovative books and Artspace's most eye-catching artworks. Libations concocted from Phaidon's "Regarding Cocktails" were served while guest pursued their favorite or learned about new designers, artists, and books displayed throughout the event.

Design Hunt With Wanted Design

The Instagram Design Hunt was a two-day event that required attendees to find, photograph and post a selected product(s) at each participating showroom. Attendees who found all of the products and posted the photos creatively on Instagram were entered for a chance to win prizes from the participating showrooms. This event was a fun, interactive and creative way to mingle the public with our SoHo showrooms.
