It's been a bustling start to 2024 for SoHo Design District!
In celebration of our 10th anniversary we launched new design initiatives bringing together the community and creating new networking opportunities.
We opened the program with a Design Day set on introducing the 2024 SDD Members (ongoing and newly associated), to all design lovers, who were invited to visit the district and the participating showrooms.
Focusing on industry professionals, we hosted a number of Trade-Only activities: on March 14th Poggenpohl SoHo hosted the Luxe Gold List honorees. Then on March 21st, a NOMA panel was hosted by Safavieh. On April 4th the Kitchen, Dining, and Table-Top Design Evening, was hosted by Amura, Boffi, Carl Hansen & Son, Poggenpohl, Zafferano America, Scavolini, MoMa Design Store. On April 9th the AIA Interiors Committee Speed Presentations was hosted by DePadova.
But this is only the beginning!
There'll be more happening later this month while we gear up for yet another NYCxDesign Festival in May, and there are more design news to discover in this issue.

SAFAVIEH - nycoba |NOMA Professional Development
On March 21st, Safavieh hosted the fourth panel of the series "This Is How We Built This" organized by the nycoba | NOMA Professional Development committee.
The New York Coalition of Black Architects (nycoba) | New York Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA), is a professional design association aimed at promoting the work, contributions, and participation of minorities in the fields of design and architecture.
The panel celebrated the alternate career journeys of four BIPOC architects who shared their individual experiences. It was moderated by the co-chair of the Professional Development Committee, Bradley DeBose. nycoba NOMA President Allison Lane introduced panelists Michael Caton, Amanda L. Miller Amankona, and Walter Cruz, all pictured above from the left.
The event was hosted at the SAFAVIEH SOHO showroom and was followed by a networking over drinks courtesy of the host.
POGGENPOHL - Luxe Gold List Honorees
On March 14th, Poggenpohl Soho hosted a lavish soiree for the annual Luxe Gold List Honorees to celebrate the design industry's visionaries. Cheers to the A&D talent featured across the pages of all Luxe editions in 2023!
SDD - Kitchen, Dining, and Table-Top Design Night
On April 4th, select SDD brands hosted a Trade-Only event dedicated to the design of convivial spaces.
Numerous showrooms participated, offering a comprehensive overview spanning from furniture to table-top accessories to create unique environments where to share special moments.
DEPADOVA - AIA NY Interiors Committee Speed Presentations
On April 9th, SDD hosted another event in collaboration with the AIANY Interiors Committee, continuing the ongoing partnership established with the NY chapter of the renowned organization.
The AIANY Interiors Speed Presentations. The event is an annual competition that showcases outstanding interior spaces designed by architects based in New York. The format of the event—a selection of architects presenting their projects in quick-fire, six-minute intervals—allows participants to introduce their work to a wide audience in an engaging time frame
In alignment with 2024 AIANY President Greg Switzer’s theme of “Belonging and Beyond,” this 14th edition of Speed Presentations calls for project entries that make significant contributions to the well-being of communities and the individuals within them through the transformative power of design.
The event was hosted by DePadova SoHo.
FOSCARINI - Chapeaux Lamp

Salvatori recently launched the Precioso Collection with American industrial designer, Stephen Burks. The collection is made using a palette of richly-colored production offcuts, including Verde Guatemala green, Giallo Siena yellow, and Rosso Francia red.
